Are you ready to be used by God? This is a question that should motivate us to love God and know him. If you don’t yet know God, please watch the GREAT NEWS FOR YOU video on this page and read more about who God is here.
Will God Use Me?
We are saved and being sanctified. We go to church. We know we need to pray and read the Bible. But will God use you? Are you ready to be used by God? There are some things you need to do first.
1 . Offer a Clean Heart
We still sin, but we need to be confessing. We also need to be forgiving the sins of others. Confess and forgive quickly, and forget as fast as God does. If you still feel guilt from your sin that is likely Satan holding you back.
2. Be Free from Sin to Be Useful to God
2 Timothy 2:21 – If you keep yourself pure you will be a utensil that God can use for his purpose. Your life will be clean and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work.
3. Offer your Body as a Living Sacrifice
This is a thing we can do early each day. We have 2 sacrifices to make to Jesus. We can offer our bodies as living sacrifices, and offer our praise to God. Offering your body is giving Jesus control of your will, plans, body, etc. so He can use you. It is Jesus doing things through us, with His mind and will controlling our bodies. Do not let the world control you, but be controlled by God.
Romans 12:1-2 – I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
3. Free Up your Schedule
Many of us busy ourselves up with things of the world. A successful attack by Satan on your life is to keep you busy with the things of the world so you are useless to God. Even retired people say they are busy. We will always be too busy to pray and serve God unless we purposefully schedule the things of God in our days and push out the worldly less important things. All of heaven is watching us. This is serious: do you want to be unfit for the kingdom?
Hebrews 12:1 – Since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.
Luke 9:62 – Anyone who lets himself be distracted from the work I plan for him is not fit for the kingdom of God.
4. Prayer
Lots of prayer will build up your faith and get you seeing what God sees and loving like God does. Plan extended time for prayer, maybe before the busy-ness of your day starts. Spend the best of your time and energy on your spiritual fitness.
1 Peter 4:1-2 – Strengthen yourselves so that you will live here on earth doing what God wants, not evil things people want.
1 Timothy 4:7b – Spend your time and energy in the exercise of keeping spiritually fit.
