Can You Lose Your Salvation?

We all have questions, and you have asked a great one! We are glad you are here and hope we can help you find the answers you need. Many people just like you are wondering things like what the Bible says about dinosaurs or can you lose your salvation. Let’s dig in and find the answer to your query today!

Once a believer is in Christ, by believing in Jesus’ Name, his salvation is secure–for multiple reasons. Any of which are sufficient in themselves. Louis Sperry Chafer listed thirty-three divine accomplishments that happen when a person believes on Jesus as his Savior. No one and nothing can undo these divine actions.

We invite you to watch the GREAT NEWS FOR YOU Video on this page to find out how you can ask Jesus to forgive you and invite him to be your Lord and Savior.

Also, if words have any meaning eternal life means a believer lives forever.

Can You Lose Your Salvation?

These are the Bible’s promises on which you can rely.

We can rely on God our Father:

“And I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. “My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand (John 10:28-29).

Is an all-powerful God not able to save to the uttermost? “Behold, the LORD’S hand is not so short
that it cannot save (Isaiah 59:1).”

We can rely on our Savior Jesus Christ:

“But He (Jesus), having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, SAT DOWN AT THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD….For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified (Hebrews 10:12-14).”

Sitting down means Jesus’ work as a sacrifice for sins has satisfied God’s wrath against sin. We can add nothing to it. We simply receive His finished work on our behalf.

“Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst….the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out….This is the will of Him who sent Me, that of all that He has given Me I lose nothing, but raise it up on the last day…that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day (John 6:35-40).”

The promise of God is that everyone who believes in Jesus will have eternal life.

We can rely on the Holy Spirit:

“Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption (Ephesians 4:30).”

Can anything separate a believer from the love of God? The Apostle Paul says no:

For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:38-39).”

We can rely on Jesus’ finished work.

What, you may ask, if we continue to sin after believing and having eternal life? Can you lose your salvation?

We will continue to sin (1 John 1:8-9). For the believer, sin affects our fellowship with God, not our eternal life in Christ. He paid for all sin past, present, and future. There are consequences (even death, 1 Corinthians 11:30) for a believer’s sins, but the consequence is never loss of salvation.
