Disconnecting from My Noises

Disconnecting from My Noises
good news of jesus

My noises are  anything that occupies and wastes time and replaces time with God. So they are my idols. Our world is very noisy, and our senses are overloaded with information glut and over stimulation.  Sin is pulling at all our senses all day long. For me, my noise is endless flipping through social media or news posts. This idol can easily waste 1-2 or more hours at a time when I am relaxing and not focused.  I have binged on this idol periodically until 1 or 2 am. I generally don’t remember anything I watched after. If you need motivation to replace bad habits with good habits, keep reading. To find success in your life, you may want to read “How to be Heard in a Loud and Dissentious Society.” Disconnecting from my noises is a great topic for us to discuss.

Direct My Focus on God

A determined heart cannot be swayed and will succeed. It will quiet the noise. A few years ago, I finally decided to lose weight. That started a 2 year strict diet.  I think I finally reached a point that caused me to want a change. This took quite a while to get to that point. I had many false starts when I really did not want to change. It took staying the course and being focused on the goal. Stay attentive and focused on God to quiet the noise.

Break Bad Habits

Bad habits get in my way in living my Christian life.  A habit is something I do without thinking. I have done it so frequently that it is imprinted in my subconscious mind. Other things in my subconscious mind include eating and riding a bike. It is tough to reprogram my mind to remove a bad habit. One thing I try is find an alternative such as scripture. I go to scripture to replace when I have a certain emotion or temptation. Try Memorizing a scripture passage and practice using it.

Make Good Habits

A biblical example is by focusing on doing good, Godly things and making good habits, which reduces our bad habits. Make a habit by repeated an activity so often that it becomes part of your daily schedule and do it without thinking about it, like brushing my teeth and eating.

If we are filling up with God, such as when we are living in the Spirit and abiding in Christ, there is no room for sin. So squeeze out the bad habits.

We learn more when emotions are attached to what we are learning, so love God with your emotions. Love Him equally in mind, body, emotions and spirit.

In conclusion, disconnecting from our personal noises and idols is essential to refocusing our lives on God. By recognizing and breaking bad habits, we can create space for positive, God-centered practices that become second nature. As we replace our distractions with scripture and intentional actions, we not only quiet the noise but also deepen our relationship with God. Embrace the journey of transformation with a determined heart, knowing that by filling our lives with the Spirit and abiding in Christ, we leave no room for sin and draw closer to a fulfilling Christian life.

The Prayer of Salvation

Jesus, I don't know You, and I don't know what Your plan is for me. But thank you for coming to die in my place. I'm sorry for anything I've ever done wrong in my life. I don't understand how You could ever forgive me, but if You really would, I would like to accept your free gift of grace and complete forgiveness. Please come into my life and take control, and help me trust You. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
