- 10 ways to find your calling in life.
Life is a glorious gift. Handle with care. Knowing your purpose simplifies your life. People without purpose usually push themselves to overdo, causing stress, fatigue and inter-relational conflict.
Knowing your purpose gives focus to your life. Wasted effort saps our strength and robs our joy. Fulfilling our purpose gives us energy, joy and satisfaction.
Every ability can be used for God’s glory.
George Bernard Shaw: “This is the true joy of life: the being used up for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one – rather than complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy.”
Do you have a purposeful life? Have you defined your calling in life?
God asks us to answer two crucial questions:
- What did you do with my Son, Jesus Christ? Did you accept what Jesus did for you and did you learn to love and trust him?
- What did you do with what I gave you – your life, all the gifts, talents, opportunities, energy, relationships, and resources that God gave you? Did you spend them on yourself or did you use them for the purposes God made you for?
Have you received the gift of eternal life?
I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
John 14:6
I Don’t Feel Like There Is A Purpose In Life For Me
Perhaps you feel like a failure – in your work, in your marriage. Or perhaps death has taken your loved one and changed your world and plans dramatically. Or you may feel stuck in a meaningless job. Your health may be failing, or you suddenly feel that you are growing old and panic at the thought of not having fulfilled your goals.
You may feel that you have wasted the best years of your life and now, although your desire is to live with purpose, you do not know how to step out on faith and make it happen. But does everyone have a calling in life?
God’s blessings are new every morning. Today can be the day that you choose to determine your goals, recognize your purpose and take a step forward in realizing and living a life that can once again be scintillating and filled with worth and accomplishment of goals.
There is indeed purpose in life for you!
You were made by God to love and be loved and to add beauty to his world. Look for the beauty in others; share the forgiveness that is yours in return. God will fill you with a love that overflows. Reach out and accept this wonderful full life that is offered.
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Hebrews 4:16
How do I Find My Sense of Purpose?
Does your life seem to have no apparent meaning? Do you feel that it is aimless, with no goals, no sense of intent and a lack of objectivity to spur you on? Is it just a feeling of trying to survive? Every day is the same old same old?
Open your eyes. Look outward and inward. Perhaps you are trying to please someone else who is defining your purpose for you. You may have only slipped off the path of the life God intended for you. There is always forgiveness, redemption and a second chance – or third or fourth.
Believe and receive Jesus Christ, and you will start the road of discovering your purpose in life and will have the power and strength that you need to fulfill your intended goals and to contribute to the betterment of all. We are not alone – reach out with open arms to help and to receive in return. We were not meant to live to ourselves and for ourselves only.
Does Everyone Have a Specific Calling in Life?
When you were created by God, he had a purpose for you to fulfill. It is only in God that we discover our origin, our identity, life’s meaning, our purpose, and His plan for us. Take the time to pursue this exciting concept of who and whose you are. But does everyone have a calling in life?
You are special. You are wanted. You were planned for. You can do all things through Christ. Reach out to him. Reach out to individuals and groups who are making a wonderful difference in this world through their generosity, their willingness to work and share and to help others. Your heart will thank you. Be a part of making the world better for all.
The true meaning and joy of life begins by committing yourself to Jesus Christ. By simply believing and receiving, we begin a relationship that gives meaning to life and defines our purpose. How to pray the prayer of salvation.
Is Everyone Born with a Purpose?
Everything in creation was made with a purpose – that includes you and me. Understanding that all creation points to glorifying God and that each of us was made to reflect His glory, gives us the enormous truth of the magnitude of God.
Just as all things that he created were meant to honor him, so is your life and mine designed to honor God. We are not identical. We all have different talents, personalities, dreams, and goals; however, all that we are is intended to bring glory to God, whether great or small.
Rick Warren simplifies this concept in his book The Purpose Driven Life into five purposes for your life that bring glory to God: worship motivated by love; thanksgiving and delight, not a duty; loving other believers – becoming like Jesus in the way we think, feel and act; serving others with our gifts; and telling others about him.
This purpose is the overall goal and can be brought about even with all of our diversity of gifts, talents, education, creativity, ethnicity, and even our burdens.
You are Uniquely Made
We are each uniquely made, and yet the overall purpose for each of us is to glorify God by reflecting his love and mercy in whatever discipline of study or profession; in whatever lifestyle or calling; in whatever freedoms or lack of freedoms that are ours.
We are wonderfully made; we are God’s handiwork. We are all so very, different; however, we are all called to honor God and welcome him into our lives; and to delight in the ways he makes us more like him as we develop our unique gifts and callings. It is such an exciting concept and one that only comes from our mighty God.
You were made to glorify God by becoming the person he created you to be.
All our abilities come from God. Every ability can be used for God’s glory. Whatever I am able to do, God wants me to do.
How to Live with Purpose
Living with a purpose is an exciting concept for each person. It has nothing to do with status or recognition. It is knowing in your heart that your life is meaningful to you and to others as you love and serve your God. But does everyone have a calling in life?
Does Everyone Have a Specific Calling?
Who knows whether you have not attained royalty for such a time as this?
Esther 4:14
The story of Esther of the Old Testament, who in answer to this question, risked her life to save her people, may be a reminder that there well may be even a direct purpose in our lives. Had circumstances and her response brought about this challenge, this acme of fulfillment of purpose in her life? Perhaps it is for such a time as this, wherever you may be, that your greatest purpose is awaiting your move. To teach a child, to make a vaccine, to share God’s love, to be your intended self – for such a time as this?
To all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to come children of God.
John 1:12
This is where it starts – believing that God wants you to have a relationship with Jesus, who died on the cross for you. And that no matter what you have done, God wants to and will forgive you. And secondly, receive – receive Jesus into your life as your Lord and Savior. Receive his forgiveness, receive the Spirit who will give you the power to fulfill your purpose in life. Believe and Receive.
What is the Main Purpose of a Human Life?
Searching for purpose in your life may be the most exciting thing you ever do. It will be the most meaningful. When we have purpose, we seek to hone those skills, brighten our outlook and leadership gifts, and determine ongoing plans. Groomed and seasoned to excel – to be used – to contribute – to create – to reach out – to become.
Living with purpose adds zest to each day and energizes our very being.
What will tomorrow hold for me? Will I be prepared and ready to meet the challenge of fulfilling my purpose? Have I learned to rely on my Lord to give me the wisdom and the strength that tomorrow may demand from me? I pray that I will not miss the blessings and opportunities that are intended to be mine. Perhaps not the comforts that I crave, but the purpose for which I am intended.
Why is it so Hard to Find Your Calling and Purpose in Life?
So why is it hard for us to find purpose in life? Why the inertia? Is it the feeling of not being good enough, that our gifts and abilities are not worth sharing?
Or is it laziness? Not willing to make the effort to contribute and to put oneself out there, so to speak.
Where Does Purpose Come From?
May I suggest you kneel by your bed each morning and talk with God like “God, whether I get anything else done today, I want to make sure that I spend time with you, loving you and loving other people —because that’s what life is all about. I don’t want to waste this day. Please help me ro recognize each blessing that you have for me today. “
Several years ago, I began to accept the challenges of the day by asking aloud: ”Lord, what are we going to do today?” This implied that I was attempting to give control of the day over to the Lord and wait for him to open doors and guide me through them. This added a sense of adventure and a feeling of companionship – not only having a goal but an advocate beside me for the day.
Time is your most precious gift because you only have a set amount of it. You can make more money, but you cannot make more time. When you give someone your time, you are giving them a portion of your life that you will never get back.
