Does Life Have a Point or a Purpose For Me?

We all face times of feeling discouraged and disillusioned. Whether we like it or not, we hope to find meaning in our lives. This quest may have you asking the question, does life have a point or purpose for me? What is the point in trying so hard?

Maybe you are doubting why you are here. It is a down moment in his life and, obviously, a time when you don’t have clarity of thought. Maybe you have lost your zest in living because of loss of a job, a future, your love, your health, or just experiencing a lack of joy. Or just missing out on the precious gift of recognizing what purpose in life means and what an essential component it is.

Is There a Purpose for My Life?

You are not an accident, dropped on earth with no forethought, thrown together like hodgepodge. There is no other person exactly like you. None with the same gifts and personality to fill the place where you were intended. Not only to function, but to contribute to the common good, to delight in your creator, to give the world the genius of who you are.

No one can fill the roll for which you were designed. It is when we realize the miracle that is you, the miracle that is me, and we seek to know the Master Designer, that we begin to understand the worth of the individual.

Then we begin to grasp the worth of self, the essence of life itself. That awakening within us motivates us to desire not only to find the purpose in life, but also to fulfill that special place and purpose meant for me/you.

We are each uniquely made with the purpose of glorifying God in whatever discipline we enter – simply by becoming the person he created us to be. Does life have a point or purpose for me?

What is the Point of Trying so Hard?

Perhaps when we ask what is the point of trying so hard, we make the search for purpose and fulfillment much harder that it should be. You wonder “does life have a point or purpose for me?”

Perhaps patiently and in quiet times, if we listen to our inner selves and determine who we are, we could figure this out. As we enumerate our traits, our gifts, our abilities, and that which triggers an energy and response within, the answers would be clear.

Until we find our purpose, we may exhaust ourselves in our effort to excel on our own. Knowing one’s purpose simplifies life, eliminating the tendency to overdo, to stress.

Realizing who we are and acknowledging that we are here for a purpose are great motivators. Ultimately, as we open our lives to spiritual cleansing by belief in the living God who created us and provided eternally for us, then we can find help and fellowship in that relationship. We can know the answer to your question, “does life have a point or purpose for me?”

Is There Even a Point for Living?

You may question if there is even a point for living. Grab a jacket and head out the door.  Walk through the tree lined streets in the early morning as the birds are waking up.  Watch the sun come up at the exact second it is scheduled to rise above the horizon. Look at the flowers bursting into joyous bloom. Listen to the sound of children’s voices as they chase a butterfly.

You, my friend, are a part of this beautiful world. Don’t miss out on enjoying the everyday joys as well as the once in a while big event.

Extend a helping hand to one who is struggling with problems or illness.  Care for your elderly parents, feed the hungry, laugh and play with the youth. There is a place meant for you, someone waiting to be loved, a student needing your help with math, a place for you to fill.

How do I know?  Because God made you. And He doesn’t make junk.  And He knew you before you were formed.

Yes, when we use our heads and open our hearts, we can see that we are loved and have a purpose. This is bigger than you and me. It stirs my inner being and drives away fear and exhaustion, because I realize I am here for a purpose and there is a clear point for living.

How Can I Find Meaning in This Life?

If you truly want to find meaning in this life, I can assure you that you will be able to do just that.  We have been talking about using our brains to realize that there is purpose and reason in our being.  Now, may I suggest that we add heart to the discussion?

We are a complex organism – and we are endowed with a heart and soul capable of communing with the Living God, the creator, the redeemer.  It is his desire that we seek him, believe him, trust him, and follow him. His promise is that he will be with us not only in this life as we know it, but also throughout eternity.

We can only know him through his son, Jesus.  At the end of this article, I hope you will listen to the video that explains this.  This is where the power for this life is. Or go here to find out all about Jesus and his love for you.

I cannot answer all your concerns, your doubts, your questions. If I could, I would be God. And you certainly do not want me for your God!  But there is one who is all and in all, and he can make your life worth living, add purpose to what you do, and you will never ever be alone again.
