In today’s daily devotional, we conclude our study of the Book of Esther with its brief yet significant final chapter—Esther 10, comprising just three verses. The story of Esther is a powerful reminder of how God can turn moments of crisis into moments of triumph and celebration. Have you experienced God’s hand in transforming your own trials into victories? Are you in the midst of a crisis today? Esther’s story encourages us to trust that God can turn even the darkest situations into reasons for joy and hope. As we reflect on how Mordecai went from a man condemned to death to second in command in the Persian Empire, we are reminded that God’s providence can bring about miraculous change. Just as God was at work in the lives of Esther and Mordecai, He is at work in ours, even when His presence is not immediately obvious. Let us dig deeper and find confidence in God’s ability to guide, protect, and elevate His people, just as He did then. To read about the victory for the jews, see the daily devotional on Esther 9.
Esther 10 Commentary by Allen J. Huth
We conclude the Book of Esther today with chapter 10, which is only three short verses. The Book of Esther is a story of God turning a crisis into a celebration. Has God done that in your life? Are you in crisis today? Will you trust Him to turn your crisis into a celebration? Please read or listen to Esther 10.
What Is the Deeper Meaning of the Book of Esther?
From Mazatlán, Mexico in 2007, I concluded the Book of Esther, those three verses, writing, “Mordecai went from condemned to death to second in command of a major kingdom. If life looks helpless, look to God and be faithful and watch what can happen.”
What Is the Significance of Mordecai in the Bible?
You may feel the same way Mordecai did. Maybe you are up against the wall; you see no way out. But this book will give you great confidence in knowing God can work out your situation, just like He did for Mordecai.
From Norway in 2016, I finished the Book of Esther )u wrote, “Mordecai advances to number two in a pagan kingdom. Haman, who was number two, was hung. Jews rose to very high positions often in pagan kingdoms: Daniel in Babylon, Moses in Egypt, Esther. Why? Because God favors His people, their talents, their abilities, their understanding as to how to treat people because of their own mistreatment by so many others.”
How Is the Book of Esther Relevant for Us Today?
Are we the same? Can God raise Christians up in pagan leadership positions because He favors us, because He needs us in certain positions, and because we treat people right? We can gain much hope in a book like Esther. We can see where God turns crisis into celebration. It happened then, and it can happen today. It happened to Esther, it happened to Mordecai, therefore, it can happen to you.
What Does the Bible Say about God Working Behind the Scenes?
Remember in a book that almost did not even make it into the Bible because there was no mention of God, we see God throughout the Book of Esther. So it is with your own life; God is working in, through, and around you. Take comfort, have faith, and trust in the Lord.
Prayer
Father, we thank You for Your sovereignty. I thank You for sovereignty in my own life. I have seen Your hand extended many times, and I thank You for Your presence in my life. Thank You for protecting the Jewish people then and now. They had to fight for themselves, defend themselves, and sometimes as Christians, we have to defend ourselves. Help me be willing to stand for what I believe, and, if necessary, fight for it. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
