My husband and I have been on vacation in Colorado recently. And while I am in awe of the beauty of the mountains, the gorgeous colors of the rocks, and the cool brisk air in the higher altitudes, I found a gem perched on a flat wind-worn rock. There, perched beautifully on the top of the rock, was this perfect depiction of our lives, and of God’s restoration power for us. We can find Hope, Joy, and Beauty in the midst of pain. There is hope for us in every situation.
How to Keep Going When You Want to Give Up
Life has a way of twisting, whipping, and punching us at times doesn’t it. So much so, that at times, do you ever feel like you are going to break, or simply fall apart? When you receive the phone call from the Doctor, saying the test results are in, and they need to see you “right away”. Or when you get called into the office on a Friday afternoon, and told “we are going to have to let you go”.
For some of us, the news of our loved one having an incurable disease, knocks us down. Or the day-to-day struggle of a not so perfect marriage. And for far too many parents, the loss of a child, or an adult child who has decided the parent is no longer wanted in their life: each of these are devastating blows, that may make you want to give up. Remember, we can find Hope, Joy, and Beauty in the midst of pain.
We invite you to watch the GREAT NEWS FOR YOU Video on this page to find out how you too can know God through his Son Jesus Christ. Your life can be made new today!
Don’t Give Up When Your World is Falling Apart
So how do you NOT fall apart or give up when life throws you a devastating punch? How do you find hope in the midst of your pain? How do you find joy when your life is falling apart? These are not easy questions to answer, and most likely, will not occur overnight. But here is what I know, without a shadow of doubt: God loves each one of us, and He carries our burdens for us. Each day He carries us in His arms. How do we survive life’s punches? Place our trust in God alone and rest in His promises. We can find Hope, Joy, and Beauty in the midst of pain.
Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears our burden. The God who is our Salvation.Psalm 68:19
We live in a world full of hurt.
The storms of life are everywhere we turn! But the truth is, God uses the trials of our lives to grow us, and to bring others to Jesus as well. In fact, it is often how we react to these trials, that the world closely watches.
We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with HIS love.Romans 5:3-5
Look to the Future
We will have our difficult days, our sad moments, our days where we feel broken or beat up. However, if we look towards the future, pray to our Father in Heaven to give us peace, hope, joy; to take away our burdens and give us happiness, He will hear our prayers. And before you know it, the next morning comes and the weight of the troubles are a little less; the issues at hand feel a little more bearable. We can find Hope, Joy, and Beauty in the midst of pain.
Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning.Psalms 30:5
Will your trials immediately go away, or will you always instantly have joy in the morning?
Possibly; but not always will this be the case. Regardless, focus on the tomorrow; focus on joy, hope, happiness, and the promises God gives us for the future. Focus on the good that is to come, not what is. When you go through the trials of life, do not focus on these hard times, but instead focus on the promises God gives us for what tomorrow will bring. He gives us a promise that He will work everything out for good, for those who love the Lord!
“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them.” Romans 8:28
God will work everything out for good, even though we suffer and our hearts are broken.
He will turn our sorrows into joy, and our heartaches into happiness, as long as we allow Him and trust Him. When you experience the devastating, focus on the beauty that will come from the ashes; focus on the happiness you can have, the joy that will come in the morning. By trusting in our creator, and accepting His love for us, we can see God turn the twisting, whipping, and punching of this life into beauty.
You can have joy in your life
So, what did I see in this twisted, gnarled tree? I see God’s beauty, and His promises for our lives. I see strength & endurance, despite the trials of life. I see a tree that was able to grow strong and flourish, despite the beating it had taken. I see a tree that has had its shares of pain, but has grown beautifully, not despite of the hardships, but because of the hardships it has endured.
I see God’s promises to us in this tree!
I see His promises to bear our burdens. I see the difficult days and the weeping in the night; but I see the beauty and joy that comes in the morning! I see how God caused everything to work together for good. This tree is a sign of strength and God’s love, despite the difficulties of life. And finally, I see the Tree of Life, as referenced in the book of Genesis. The Tree of Life is a symbol of God’s life-giving presence and the promise of eternal life available in God.
There is Hope for you and a purpose for your life
Don’t ever give up! God has a plan and a purpose for your life, and He loves you, more than you can ever comprehend. Look to God alone for your personal hope, joy, and beauty; especially in the midst of your pain and sorrows! Look to God for an eternal life and never-ending joy, in Heaven with our creator.
