What is your character and reputation? How do you want to be seen by others? How do other people actually see you? God looks beyond the outside and looks inward into our hearts. But people look at our outsides. So how are we seen by others?
Christ-Like
For Christians, we want to be Christ-like. We want to look like Jesus, so others may come to know Him through our witness. How we look and how we act speak louder than our words. Jesus in us should be stronger than any bias against our outside looks others may have, such as our skin color, disability or unattractiveness.
A Blurred Picture
Do people see a blurred picture of Jesus when they see you? If so you have too much of the world and not enough of Jesus. The things of the world that you are holding tightly are fading away. They are empty and dead. We should keep out mouths shut most of the time. We often say things that are hurtful and tear down other people, harming our relationships and our witness. Being rich and maybe famous, having everything we want, allows us to see this does not fulfill us. It simply means we have more of the same empty and dead things of the world.
A Solution
We need only one thing – Jesus. He is fullness and life. Jesus loves us too much for us to remain living in captivity to sin and to the world. He desires for us to be free. Let your life be Christ-centered. Start each morning in prayer, fully submitting to Him, offering praise to Him, and offering your body as a living sacrifice. Others will see Jesus in you, clearly.
