How Do I Find a Purpose for My Life?

Humans instinctively know that life has a purpose. We decide that we need to achieve success by having a family, having a high-paying job, being good at sports, or being intelligent. However, if God isn’t real then life is meaningless in the end because one day the human race will be extinct, the earth will explode, and there won’t be a trace of human existence. Why does no one feel like life is meaningless then? I believe it is because God has given us a deep need to be in connection with Him.

5 Common Questions about Purpose

1. What is the Purpose of Life?

The purpose of life from a purely human standpoint is usually to live your life well. This can mean different things to different people. Many people believe it means to live life as best you can while getting ahead of other people in a way that is not necessarily damaging to others. However, I think most of the time people get ahead any way they can at the cost of others either knowingly or unknowingly. We all know someone who does everything they can to further themselves with little or no concern for others. If we look at the arrests in the world or the statistics on people who steal, rape, or kill it becomes clear that many people follow this philosophy. When it becomes clear for the majority of people for me is how people treat each other in their daily lives.

This is especially true when someone is behind a screen or in their car. If you visit Facebook many of the groups will have a lot of fighting in the comments and it is extremely common to see cussing and otherwise being rude to someone who asked a simple question. This is the same for people who drive like they are more important than those around them. A huge number of people who drive frequently break the law to get somewhere quickly. My point is we often believe we are to live our lives well, even if this comes at the cost of others.

Furthermore, if God isn’t real, there’s no reason not to live your life this way. Why not do everything we can to get ahead even at the costs of others? If God isn’t real then morals are a natural progression of evolution and have no bearing on life. The fact is that the vast majority of people reading this know that they do not want to get ahead at the costs of others because it is wrong. They believe that there is a purpose to this life. This is because God has put morals inside of us. God created us to have a sense of purpose.

2. What does the Bible say the Purpose of my Life is?

The Bible says that the purpose of life is to ultimately bring glory to God. To bring glory to God means to praise, worship, and bring thanksgiving to Him. The best way to do this for the Christian is by following the two greatest commandments given in the Bible. The first is to love God and the second is to love others as yourself. Why is bringing God glory the purpose of life? God created us in His image.

God is three persons in one being, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each person of the trinity has lived eternally loving the other two persons of the trinity. The Bible says that the nature of God is love. When we love someone, we are experiencing a tiny fraction of what God has made us for. We are made to have a relationship with God. When we experience this, our natural response is to bring Him glory because of his nature. His attributes of love, peace, mercy, grace, justice, etc., are all beyond our understanding. The natural response to God is to worship Him because these are all things we lack. When we love other people, we bring glory to God. Being loving is how God made us before we rebelled against Him.

3. How do I Find the Purpose for my Life?

The Bible lays out what Christians believe is the purpose of life. The life of a Christian is a servant to God and others. Many people do not want to follow God because it means you are giving up your dreams, your desires, and your life so that you can live how God wants you to. We are called to be loving even when people spit on us. We are called to pray for people who persecute us. Despite the physical hardships, the rewards are eternal. The heart of the Christian is full and the spirit is alive. Without God, the spirit will remain dead. Yes, being a Christian is difficult; but eternal life with God is too good to pass up.

4. How do I Accept Jesus?

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life” -John 3:16. To be saved you have to believe in Jesus. This is not simply intellectual belief. “You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder” – James 2:19. The Bible says this belief must also have action with it. For example, you can believe that a chair can hold you up but only when you sit down are you acting on your belief.

No one is saved by actions; it is only through faith that someone can be saved. If you want to be saved, you must repent of your sins and place your faith in Jesus to take your sins. Once you do this the Holy Spirit will fill you and you will become a new creation. There is also help below and here if you need anything else please do not hesitate to email or call Cuurio or me. 5. How do I Follow Jesus’ Purpose for my Life?

Once you become a Christian, the best way to follow God’s purpose for your life is to follow what the Bible says. The Bible is the revelation of God to His people. We should always consult it because it is true in all matters. Jesus said that the greatest commandment is to love God and the second is to love others as yourself. Jesus’ purpose for your life is to follow Him, to love Him, and to love others. The best way to do this is to follow the example that Jesus set out in the Bible. It is also worth noting that anyone has direct access to God when they repent of their sins and obey Him. Christians are told to speak to God and ask Him for anything we need and He will provide it if it is in His will.
