H there! I’m so glad that you are seeking the answer to the question, “How to be successful in life?” We all long for purpose, happiness and a sense of success. A feeling of accomplishment can really give your self confidence a boost. We could all use a dose of that! Let’s talk about it!

Praying the Promises of God

There are actually a lot of scriptures related to this very question. God does not want us to wander around in the dark, endlessly wondering if he wants us to be successful. Of course he does – he sent his only Son to die on the cross for you! He came to offer salvation and forgiveness to everyone. That includes you! No matter what you have done or haven’t done! That proves how valuable you are to him, and how much he cares about your wellbeing. He will show you how to be successful in life!

God Wants You to Succeed

In my article about Reasons to Hope for Success, I explained that success in God’s eyes might look very different from what you expect. This kind of success is unusual in two ways: The way you pursue it and the way it shows up in your life. Praying is a huge part of God-given success, and the most effective prayers come from a place of close relationship with God. Don’t be afraid to turn your prayer for success into an honest conversation with God. He loves you and desires your whole heart. In fact, your success hinges on a big ‘IF’ in this first promise from scripture.

“If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.”

John 15:7-8

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

John 10:10

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen.” 

Ephesians 3:20-21

“The Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless.”

Psalm 84:11

“I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”

Matthew 6:25, 33-34

“What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own son, but gave him up for us all – how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against Those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died more than that who was raised to life is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?  As it is written:

“‘For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.’

“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”

Romans 8:31-37

God Will Provide for You

My prayer is that these scriptures have reassured your heart and planted hope deep inside you. God is for you – not partly, not half-heartedly, but fully. Remember what price he paid to restore relationship with you, and pray through these promises as you seek success in him. God will walk with you and show you how to be successful in life.

The Prayer of Salvation

Jesus, I don't know You, and I don't know what Your plan is for me. But thank you for coming to die in my place. I'm sorry for anything I've ever done wrong in my life. I don't understand how You could ever forgive me, but if You really would, I would like to accept your free gift of grace and complete forgiveness. Please come into my life and take control, and help me trust You. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
