A New Life
Are you wondering how to start and new life and find your purpose? You are not alone. Going through life empty and without purpose and direction is no way to live. Even after finding that purpose, many of us have struggled when we gave ourselves to God through Jesus’s sacrifice for us. Even though we knew what we were doing was good, it took time. Some did it all at once, and some like me, had to give a little at a time to God until we were fully his. We went from trusting ourselves with everything to giving it to God to manage for us.
Today we will be talking about the following:
- How to Start a New Life and Find Your Purpose
- How to Move to God’s Side and Accept His Grace
- Starting Fresh
- Don’t Go Back to Your Old Ways
- How to Move Forward
- You are Here for a Reason
- You Don’t have to be Perfect
The very instant that you step into the presence of Christ you are a new person. The old is gone and the new has come. What does that mean? It means you have given up the management of yourself to God the creator to start a new, better path for you!
You are now a case study of what he does. At one time you had your back turned to God, thinking rebellious thoughts of him, giving him trouble every chance you got.
If you have not yet begun a new life with God, we invite you to watch the video on this page to find out how.
Move to God’s Side and Accept His Grace
But now, by giving himself completely at the Cross, actually dying for you, Christ brought you over to God’s side and put your lives together, whole and holy in his presence. You don’t walk away from a gift like that!
You need to stay grounded and steady in that bond of trust, constantly tuned in to the Message, careful not to be distracted or diverted. There is no other Message—just this one.
Every creature under heaven gets this same Message. I, Paul, am a messenger of this Message.
Colossians 1:21-23 MSG
Starting Fresh
Don’t grieve God. Don’t break his heart. His Holy Spirit, moving and breathing in you, is the most intimate part of your life, making you fit for himself. Don’t take such a gift for granted. Make a clean break with all cutting, backbiting, profane talk. Be gentle with one another, sensitive. Forgive one another as quickly and thoroughly as God in Christ forgave you.
Ephesians 4:30-32 MSG
It’s no longer about sensuality, it’s now about sensitivity… Let God work through you….
It’s no longer about me, it’s about how can God use me.
Don’t Go Back to Your Old Ways
Be warned, our old ways and thoughts are going to be right around the corner. We are always in a competition of appetites. The more we think about and desire something, the more we want it, no matter what the appetite is. We just want more. Is it a God thing or an earthly desire you are feeding? Earthly desires will always leave you empty and hungry while heavenly desires will fill your soul, create contentment with God and a happy place within your soul.
So stop telling lies. Let us tell our neighbors the truth, for we are all parts of the same body. And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, for anger gives a foothold to the devil. If you are a thief, quit stealing. Instead, use your hands for good hard work, and then give generously to others in need.
Ephesians 4:25-28
Be a person of quick resolution. Don’t carry baggage. Talk to God and keep moving forward. Don’t carry the burden by yourself. Let God carry it for you so that you can do what he sent you to do. Don’t be a consumer, be a producer for God. Be someone used by God as much as you can. Pay no mind to bad thoughts and put off destructive words. Anyone can walk into a room and be a flame thrower. The harder part is to walk into a room and build people up with a kind word or a prayer.
Watch the way you talk. Let nothing foul or dirty come out of your mouth. Say only what helps, each word a gift.
Ephesians 4:29
Move Forward
Here at the beginning of a new year is the perfect time to think about what your life message is. Resolve to share it with people around you. Now that you are on Gods side, take advantage of his presence in your life. Tell him your needs, concerns and wishes and give them to God. He will always take whatever you have and multiply it.
You are Here for a Reason
Did you know that God put you on earth for a special reason? He wants to say something to the rest of the world through you. It’s called your life message. We all have something special in us. We were all made to serve him differently. As our pastor recently noted, 1) find something you like doing, 2) find something that pays your bills and 3) find something you’re good at. Once you do that, you will be in a place where you can make money to tithe and help those in need while still being happy and able to do something that God will bless.
God wants to use you specifically. Why? Because the best messages are personal messages. The most powerful messages come through people. God is God and he could have shared his message in infinitesimal ways. He didn’t email it, he didn’t write it in the sky. He came in person. The Word became flesh. Jesus Christ came to earth so we could see what God is like. God has a message to share with the world today. He wants to share it through you.
You Don’t have to be Perfect
You don’t have to be perfect to share your life message. You just have to be honest—real and authentic. You can say, “I don’t have it all together, but here’s what God’s doing in my life. Here’s the difference Jesus Christ has made.” If you don’t share your life message with other people, they may never hear about what God can do for them too. This is one of the best examples of how to start and new life and find your purpose.
So, what do you have to share with others today?
