I couldn’t even count the number of people I have known who have a feeling of emptiness inside of them. We all know people that seem happy but at the end of the day, they fill a hole in their life with drugs, alcohol, gambling, lust, etc. This is all too common in our culture and viewing arrest records we can see we have a problem with how we live. Often I am asked something along the lines of, “I Feel Empty Inside, is that OK? What Can I Do?” Some people feel empty because they have a mental health issue. That is not what I am speaking of. The best thing to do if you feel there is a mental health issue is to see a professional because that is why God gave people the ability to help in that way. I want to help you understand how God can help you understand why you feel empty and how you can stop feeling it.

4 Questions About Feeling Empty
1. Is Feeling Sad the same as Feeling Empty?
The emptiness that I’m referring to here is a deep knowing that something is missing in your life. It is something that is always there even when you’re happy. It is the same as happiness and joy. You can be sad that something bad has happened but have joy knowing that at the end of the day everything is going to be okay. You can be happy but still have the emptiness in your heart and when the end of the day hits you get the feeling there is just something missing from your life.
2. Is Feeling Empty Okay?
The world will tell you that feeling empty is simply a part of life. However, the Bible says that humans can feel fulfilled because that is what God created them for. When God created Adam and Eve he gave them free will. When they decided to disobey God they became sinners and their nature changed. They were separated from God and they felt empty and lonely. The Bible says that when we sin we feel empty because our lives are lived without God. God created humans as physical and spiritual beings and when we live without God our spirits are empty. But God provided forgiveness of our sins through Jesus Christ. When someone becomes a Christian by accepting God’s free gift of salvation, their spirit is made alive with the Holy Spirit. Spiritual death may be the common state on this earth, but it is not natural. The only natural way to live is with God.
3. How can I Fill the Void?
The only way to fill the void is to be saved. God created us to be in communication with Him and this is why people feel the void. When someone believes in Jesus as God and puts their faith in Him they become whole. The Bible says that Christians become a new creation and, while life will still be difficult, God will give you peace and joy, and your spirit will be alive.
4. How can I have Faith in God?
The Bible says that the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. For God to be your Lord all you have to do is give your life to Him and allow Him to be your master. God has a wonderful plan for your life. He loves you so much that he laid down His life so that you can be free. Truly, living your life for Him, walking with Him every step of the way leads to joy and freedom.
