Today’s Daily Devotional is on Jeremiah 30 and 31. Amidst the backdrop of judgment and destruction, we find a beacon of hope: God’s promise of restoration. Despite our wandering, disobedience, or feelings of disconnect, these chapters remind us of God’s unwavering commitment to His people. He pledges to restore what was lost, declaring, “For behold, days are coming when I will restore the fortunes of my people” (Jeremiah 30:3). Check out the Daily Devotional on Jeremiah 28 and 29 to realize God has plans for a future and a hope. Do you believe God has plans for you?
Jeremiah 30:17
Through Jeremiah’s words, we’re assured of God’s presence, salvation, and everlasting love. He stands ready to forgive and renew, emphasizing His desire for restoration over judgment. “There is hope for your future,” proclaims the Lord (Jeremiah 31:17), offering a new covenant and a fresh start to all who seek it.
So let us embrace this message of hope and renewal. God’s love knows no bounds, His grace abundant. As we come before Him in prayer, may we thank Him for His faithfulness and mercy, and may we wholeheartedly accept His invitation to return to Him. In His arms, we find true restoration and the promise of a hopeful future.
Jeremiah 30 and 31 Commentary by Allen J. Huth
In Jeremiah 30 and 31, we are reminded He is a God of restoration. Have you strayed, been disobedient, need to come back? Please read or listen to the twenty-four verses in Jeremiah 30 and the forty verses in Jeremiah 31.
Due to the length of the reading today, I will not use my journals but just summarize some of the great encouragement we read or heard of these chapters after so much judgment and destruction in the first several chapters of Jeremiah. Praise God He is a God of restoration:
For behold, days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will restore the fortunes of my people, Israel and Judah, says the Lord, and I will bring them back to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall take possession of it (30:3).
For I am with you to save you,
declares the Lord (30:11).
Jeremiah 31:3
I have loved you with an everlasting love;
therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you (31:3).
Wow! Thank You, Lord, for Your everlasting love to us.
There is hope for your future,
declares the Lord (31:17).
Jeremiah 31:31-34
And there is hope for our future, as well, “Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah” (31:31).
Jumping down to 31:33-34, one of those great passages of Jeremiah:
I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, “Know the Lord,” for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
Digging Deeper
Praise God He is a God of restoration even though He is a God of judgment. He was very upset with His own people, Israel. You may think He is, or has been, very upset with you. But hear the encouragement in these chapters for Israel and you. He loves you enough to restore, save, continue His everlasting love and faithfulness to you, and give you hope! He is ready to make a new covenant with you if you come back to Him. Will you?
Prayer
Hallelujah, Lord! We thank You for Your everlasting love. The fact that You will renew Your covenant with us. You will remember our sins no more. We come back to You! We give You praise and thanks. In Jesus’ name, amen.
