We all have questions! And you have asked a great one! Who is Jesus? To know him through faith is to know God. (Read the article “Who is God?” to find out more about God. To know Jesus is to experience forgiveness and redemption from sin, to never be alone. To know him is to pass from this life into eternal life because we belong to him. To know this Jesus and believe is to have Eternal Life. Through him we experience God’s love.

Who is Jesus?

It is essential to know who Jesus is. It is essential in order to receive eternal life that we believe that Jesus is the Son of God.  It is essential to trust in him for salvation and forgiveness of our sins so that we can enter heaven. It is essential that we seek him for he has paid the price for our sins.

How Can I Be Saved by Jesus?

Believe and become God’s child, forgiven, and made whole.  Not just somewhere in the future, but right now. It means acknowledging that Jesus is the only means of our salvation from sin and judgement. He is Lord, God’s anointed one, who will one day reign in royal majesty forever and ever.

Jesus is the Son of God

Jesus is Lord. Jesus is the Christ. Jesus is the Incarnate God. Jesus is Alive. And Jesus loves you and He loves me!

This is not intended as an attempted apologetic discourse for a theology course. This is meant as a person-to-person-sharing of an introduction to Jesus, who welcomes you into the household of faith.

Jesus Knows Your Name

He is alive. He conquered death. He is at the right hand of God, the position of great power. He wants you to know and believe that he died in your place for your sins. He wants you to trust him and determine to live for God to the best of your ability.  He wants you to depend on what he has already done when he died on the cross for your sins and mine. He wants to walk with you in this life and carry your burdens and give you strength and peace.  He wants to be your friend as well as savior.

His invitation is awesome!

Depending on this outpouring of Grace in the greatest gift ever.

How Do I Describe Jesus?

How do you describe he who is God incarnate, meaning he came to earth as a baby, lived a perfect life, took our sins upon him, suffered and died on the cross, thus  paying for our sins, was buried and rose alive from the grave on the third day?

Omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent.  He ascended into heaven and sits on the right of God the Father (a picture of his power). He is preparing an eternal home for us who believe and receive him as Savior through faith.

In the meantime, Jesus, in the form of the Holy Spirit, lives within each believer and guides and encourages and strengthens us.  Only because He is God can this be.

This is who Jesus is, expressed in the words of a simple believer. These words are not adequate, nor will they ever be, to describe the power and majesty and holiness of this Godman, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God.  The third person of the Trinity.  God Himself.

He Loves You

This Jesus, wants you to believe him, trust him, follow him, and he will lovingly lead you through the joys as well as the perils of this life and into life eternal with him. He will make your life on this earth richer and more beautiful also.

Oh, I want you to know my Jesus!

Who Does the Bible Say Jesus Is?

So, who is Jesus?  Read the fourth Gospel of the New Testament in the Bible – the book of John – to be amazed at who this Jesus is.  John knew him personally in the flesh and tells us much about him.

The Gospel of John begins with: “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”  The Word that was in the beginning and spoke the creation – was and is the living God – Jesus the Christ.  Grasp the majesty there – the Creator who now offers you and me eternal life with God.

What awesome, unfathomable power!  How majestic is your name in all the world.  Jesus was the Word (referred to in the Gospel of John) speaking the world into existence; Jesus is the Godman living, dying. and resurrecting. Jesus is the Spirit living within the hearts of believers.  And this phenomenal God did not stay dead.  He rose from the dead and walked out of the grave.

He Lives Forever

And we who believe on him will also reign with him.  There is no one like him. There is none like him.  He is all powerful, omniscient.  He wants to be your friend, your savior, your companion. Jesus offers you and me, and all who believe a future that is so resplendent that it defies all imagination.

When you and I submit to the Word of God by faith, receiving the Lord Jesus Christ into our hearts, believing in all that His Name reveals, Jesus gives us spiritual and eternal life and we are forgiven. And this transaction is only because of His mercy and His grace. A true miracle.

 Nothing is Impossible with God

We become more assured as we read the Bible, His Word, and as we begin to walk with him and know his presence in our lives.

Your choice to either receive or reject this Jesus as your Lord and Savior will determine where you spend eternity.  This is the decision of all decisions, the commitments of all commitments, the saving grace beyond human understanding.  Repent and receive this gift of grace that is our Hope and our Salvation.

The transaction of forgiveness offered is the highest form of grace – unmerited favor. Not because we deserve being forgiven, but because it is a pure and glorious gift from the Savior who paid the price for our sins, making us His children, forgiven, and redeemed.  His love and His forgiveness are bestowed upon us – not because of who we are but because of Who we trust and ask to be the Lord – the boss – of our life.

There is nothing I can do to make myself pure and holy enough to go to heaven. It is a gift of grace, a debt paid by this Jesus the Christ, and accepted by faith. And that faith not of my own, lest I should boast, but through a gift of grace that enables me to believe.  I believe, Lord, help my unbelief.

Have You Heard About Jesus?

Perhaps only the mocking of unbelievers. Or perhaps the seeking questions of those wanting the truth, desiring to be forgiven from the sins that condemn them.

Jesus is waiting to freely give this marvelous gift of Eternal Life to you. This gift for which he paid a terrible price of suffering and dying for on the cross to provide, because he is the only one worthy of being the costly sacrifice. He was sinless and perfect – the perfect sacrifice for my sins and your sins.

He Understands Us

While in human flesh, Jesus was subjected to all the temptations and trials that we face. Therefore, he understands when we struggle. He gives us the strength to make good decisions.

Jesus gives us joy.  Believing his promises of forgiveness, we don’t have to carry the burden of sin.  We have all the power necessary to live a life that glorifies Jesus and attracts others to the Source of all life.

Jesus indwells us and guides us into righteous living. He gives us rest from anxiety because he is in control. He comforts us in the darkest times. He gives us hope for each day and Great Hope for eternity.  He empowers us to do great things, to help others, to have confidence, to restore us, to be his hands and feet to the needy world. He enlarges our faith and understanding so that we can share the Good News of the Risen Lord. And he forgives us daily of our sins as we confess those sins and failures.

He is Lord of All, the Everlasting God, the King of Kings!

We tremble at His Majesty, His power, the omnipotence as we seek to know Him.   But in great love, He gently reaches out to us with his offer to make us His own. His love for us is so compelling, so merciful, and we are made whole, avoiding the judgment, when we, in simple faith, confess our own unworthiness and trust this Loving Savior. Yes, and as believers we rest not in our own faith, but in the powerful God of grace and mercy in whom we have faith.

Open the door of your heart and invite him into your life as Savior and Lord. John 1:12 says “Yet to all who receive him, to those who believe in his name (Jesus), he gives the right to become children of God.”

Believe in His Name – the name of Jesus.  That name of Jesus is all powerful.  Never take it in vain. Use that name reverently and with a grateful heart.

In the Book of Romans in Chapter 8:1 we read. “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.  For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.”

Did you see that?  No condemnation.  Thank you, Jesus!

The Prayer of Salvation

Jesus, I don't know You, and I don't know what Your plan is for me. But thank you for coming to die in my place. I'm sorry for anything I've ever done wrong in my life. I don't understand how You could ever forgive me, but if You really would, I would like to accept your free gift of grace and complete forgiveness. Please come into my life and take control, and help me trust You. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
