Some days, loneliness just sneaks up on you. I get it. And I am so sorry you are feeling this way. Let’s talk about what to do when you feel alone and isolated.
If you would like to know how much God loves you, please watch the Great News video on this page.
You might be sitting in a room full of people, nodding and smiling and doing all the right things—and still feel like no one really sees you. Or maybe you’re physically alone a lot of the time, and the silence starts to feel heavy. Like there’s a wall between you and the rest of the world, and you’re not quite sure how to climb over it.
If that’s where you are right now, I want to say this first: you’re not broken, and you’re not weird. This happens to more of us than you’d think—especially during big life transitions, after heartbreak, in seasons of change, or even just when you’re feeling worn out. The ache of isolation is real, and it matters.
And sometimes, it’s not just about being alone—it’s that longing to be understood. To be met with that rare kind of care that doesn’t need explaining.
You Don’t Have to “Fix” Yourself to Feel Better
It’s tempting to think, If I just got out more, or If I had more friends, or If I were different, this wouldn’t be happening. But loneliness isn’t always about what’s happening outside—it’s also what’s going on inside your heart.
And sometimes, you don’t need a big life change. You just need someone to meet you where you are.
That’s Where Jesus Comes In
Now—before you skip this part, thinking this is about religion or rules or things you’re supposed to do—I want to gently tell you that Jesus is nothing like that.
He’s not looking at you with a clipboard. He’s not frustrated that you’re struggling. He’s not waiting for you to “get it together.”
He’s already sitting beside you.
Even if you don’t feel Him, even if you’ve never really talked to Him, He’s close. He knows what it’s like to feel abandoned, misunderstood, left out, and even betrayed. He’s been there too. And His heart is tender toward yours.
You’re Not Invisible to Him
In the quiet moments when it feels like no one sees what you’re carrying, Jesus does. And not in a distant, “God is watching” kind of way—but in the kind of way where He draws near to the brokenhearted. He wants to carry your pain. He wants to remind you that you are loved—not because of what you do, but simply because you are His.
If You’re Not Sure What to Say, Try This
You don’t need fancy words. You don’t need to know a bunch of Bible verses. Just say something simple like:
“Jesus, I feel really alone. If you’re here, could you remind me somehow? Could you help me feel your love today?”
That’s it. That’s enough.
And He will show up—sometimes in a moment of peace, sometimes in a kind word from someone else, sometimes in a song or a sunset or even a laugh you didn’t expect. He’s creative like that.
In the Meantime, Be Gentle with Yourself
If you’re still figuring it all out, that’s okay. If you’re struggling to believe you’re loved, that’s okay too. You don’t have to fake it. Just take it one little moment at a time.
Because the truth is, even if you feel forgotten by the world—you are remembered by the One who made it.
And He isn’t going anywhere.
